Logo is a great marketing tool that a company should have. It will convey a clear message what a company stands for and will give clear brand recognition to you in the market. But most of the people do not understand its importance. They do not realize how valuable it is for their business.
So, if you are a logo designer, then my tips will help you to create a good logo. In this article, I have explained about how a logo should not be designed.
1. Don’t use stock imagery:
Many websites let you design your own logo by using their stock images. I strongly discourage you from doing like that. Because any business can have such kind of logo. If you are a newbie and just want to design your own logo, only at that time you can utilize such websites. If you are a professional logo designer, never try to create such logos. Just come up with your own thoughts and ideas. Another advantage of creating the logo by yourself is that you will easily get copyright for that image.
2. Don’t use raster images:
A logo can be anything but it should be simple and should be scalable to different sizes, which means it should be clear and legible on right from business card to banner. Moreover it should work in color, grayscale, black and white background without losing impact. This all will be possible only if you use vector graphics software. If you use raster images, obviously you can’t use that in multiple sizes even though you come with great ideas.
3. Never use complicated images:
This is the major mistake many of the amateur logo designers commit. Sometimes it may lose its beauty and can be very difficult to see, especially when the size of the logo is changed. So, always prefer to create a simple image; it will give you great impact.
Apart from this, you must select a font that would be clear even when the logo is printed as a thumbnail. Always try to add just one font and never more than two. Also keep your text separate from the image. Because once you get recognition, you can still use the image without the company name and people will still remember you.
