1. Use only 2 or 3 colors:
It is always good to use just 2 or 3 colors because if you use more colors then it will loss coherence. Moreover, using more colors in a logo is very expensive.
2. Use only 2 fonts:
If you use more fonts then your logo will look like a bundle of separate pieces put together slightly than a cohesive unit.
3. Test your logo in black and white color:
After creating a full logo, make sure that your logo works well in black and white color also.
4. Test your logo on different backgrounds:
Once you test your logo in black and white color, also test it again in various dark and light background colors that it will appear on.
5. Check whether it appears good in all sizes:
It is important because your logo will appear at various places like banner, website, business card, bill board, etc. According to that, the size may increase or decrease. So, as a logo designer, it’s your duty to check whether your logo design appears clearly in all the sizes. If it doesn’t, then design the logo according to that.
6. Use only 2D design:
Although 3D is good for logo design, it is advisable for you to stick on to two dimensional design. Once you become expert in designing a logo, you can use the 3D design.
7. Create only Vector logo:
Because if you create a vector logo then it is easy for you to alter its size depending on the need. Moreover, you can use media in the logo without losing its quality.
8. Never use photos:
Because photos won’t reproduce well in media and it makes your logo look outdated. So, never think of using that in your logo.
9. Keep it legible:
Make sure the words in the logo are readable or else it will be useless to have it.
10. Never use Gradient and Shadow:
If you use them, they may look pretty but it is hard to reproduce them in other media. For example, if you use gradient design, then you cannot reproduce well in the printing process which is used to produce premium items like pens or mugs.
